Identifying and Securing Grant Writers and Other Consultants

Many organizations rely upon established relationships with a cadre of grant writers and consultants to help them secure funds, implement projects, and evaluate outcomes. This is particularly true among faith- and community-based organizations that often operate with limited staff, resources, and expertise. Rarely do faith- and community-based organizations staff individuals who are skilled in identifying and securing funds through the grant-writing process. Moreover, proposed activities and services may require specialized skills not available in the organization. To enhance personnel resources, community- and faith-based initiatives can access the services of individual consultants and organizations that provide and/or broker consulting services.

This section contains several resources to help you identify and secure grant writers and other resource consultants, including -

  • Tips on what to consider when identifying and securing grant writers
  • Tips for finding consultants, in general, and organizations that provide consultant directories
  • Resources for identifying evaluation consultants (Evaluators Registry)
  • Access to individual providers of training and technical assistance (Training and Technical Assistance Registry)
