The Faith and Service Technical Education Network (FASTEN) is a collaborative initiative of the Pew Charitable Trusts working in partnership with:
- Baylor University

FASTEN seeks to meet the needs of faith-based organizations by building their capacity to address community challenges. It fosters collaboration between and among faith-based organizations, intermediary organizations, private philanthropy, and government agencies. Among a range of services provided by FASTEN, it seeks to equip faith- and community-based organizations by presenting practical tools, including model profiles and best practices, and by disseminating information on best practices based on original research produced by the FASTEN partner organizations listed above. The Nonprofit Good Practice Guide is a comprehensive online resource directory and capacity-building tool that offers preferred practices and pitfalls, glossaries, resources, trends, and Web site profiles within 10 topic areas. Funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Web site offers answers to many questions about managing nonprofits by providing hands-on tips, articles, and profiled links to lead nonprofit managers to sources that contain an abundance of information, which can be applied quickly and directly to improving their organizations' performance. Nonprofit organizations referred to in the guide range from community and neighborhood organizations with no assets and no employees to multibillion-dollar foundations, universities, and health care complexes with thousands of employees. Their commonality rests in their tax-exempt status and, as holders of the public's trust, their mission to improve quality of life. Visit this Web site at http://www.nonprofitbasics.org.
