ARC Curriculum
In January, 2001, President Bush signed an Executive Order that established the White House's Office of Faith and Community-based Initiatives and exemplified his belief that faith-based and other community organizations "are indispensable in meeting the needs of poor Americans and distressed neighborhoods." To support the President's Initiative, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in the Department of Justice (DOJ) launched a national training and technical assistance initiative through the National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) that aimed to provide grants writing and capacity building to faith, community and small nonprofit organizations. In keeping with the President's vision that this initiative be designed to help the Federal Government coordinate a national effort to expand opportunities for faith-based and other community organizations and to strengthen their capacity to better meet social needs in America's communities, NTTAC's training initiative is designed to level the "playing field" for faith and community organizations to participate in Federal grant opportunities by empowering them to overcome the regulatory, contracting and other programmatic obstacles to the participation of faith and other community organizations in the provisions of social services.
