The ARC Navigating the Federal Funding Process National Training that took place in Miami, Florida on June 27-29, 2005 focused on making connections with independent, secular, and faith-based colleges and universities. This training included a diverse group of participants representing colleges and universities from 25 states across the Nation.

Welcoming the training participants, Dr. Paul Corts, the Assistant General for Administration in the Office of Justice Management, U.S Department of Justice emphasized the importance of seeking funding at the State level, and provided potential sources and contact information for State Juvenile Justice agencies.

Topics included identifying funding opportunities, recognizing the benefits of partnerships, utilizing successful grant application strategies, developing the program evaluation and reporting, and creating effective budgets.

The workshop showcased information on a comprehensive, accessible Federal Funding Toolkit that provided resources on the Federal Grants process. The toolkit helped colleges and universities identify federal and state funding streams, recognize the benefits of partnerships, develop competitive federal grant applications, and evaluate programs. During the workshop, participants learned about promising programs and network with colleagues from across the country.
